Music in Children's Literature (Live Online)
Music has the power to calm us, to excite us, to move and inspire us. Children's books can do the same. This class will explore many of the outstanding children's books that show the beauty and power of music. We will incorporate many picture books that can be used in classrooms. We will focus on Pam Munoz Ryan's award-winning novel, Echo, which has been described as one part fairy tale, three parts historical fiction, all held together by a mysterious harmonica. It is a truly amazing book! Participants will benefit from an increased knowledge of children’s literature, a greater understanding of comprehension strategies, and an enjoyable journey into the magic of music. This class will benefit K-8 classroom teachers, librarians, and music teachers.
