How do I register for a course?

- Go to the Online Classes page.
- Review the class catalog. When you find the class you are interested in taking, click Add to Cart.
- If the class is Instructor-Led, you’ll need to select your start date and click Begin Checkout.
- If the class is Self-Paced, you’re ready to check out. Click Begin Checkout.
- You’ll be brought to a page that requires you to Log In or Create Account.
- Once logged in, you’ll move forward with paying for the class via credit card.
- You are registered for your class!
How do Self-Paced Tutorial courses work?

Self-Paced Tutorial courses are open enrollment, meaning you can enroll and start a course any time it is convenient. After enrolling, you will receive all lessons immediately and have three months access to complete the course content. Self-Paced Tutorial courses do not have extensions.
How are the courses graded?

Your course grade depends solely on passing a final multiple-choice exam on the first attempt. While lessons include assignments and quizzes, they are not mandatory and will not impact your grade. The minimum passing score for the final exam is 65.
What are the class registration policies?

Registration is conducted
online. There are
no limitations on age, location, or how many classes you take.
How do Instructor-Led courses work?

Instructor-Led courses operate on rolling monthly basis, with four available start dates. After enrolling, you will receive new lessons on a set schedule over a six-week period. Two lessons are released each week — one on Wednesday and one on Friday. The final exam is released consecutively with the 12th lesson. You will then have two weeks to complete the exam.
Where are Adult Evening Education courses offered?

How do I obtain my certificate of completion?

When students successfully complete the instructor-led or self-paced classes, the certificate of completion will automatically be available to the student for print or download in their My Classroom homepage immediately after successfully passing the final exam. The student would just need to click on the "Completion" button to access.

There is severe weather; will my class be held?

There are two types of online classes offered: Instruct-Led and Self-Paced. Neither require you to attend classes synchronously. You have six weeks to complete an instructor-led class. You are given three months to complete a self-paced online class.
How do I contact the instructor for help?

If you have course content-related questions, Instructor-Led courses feature a “Discussion Area” where you can engage with your instructor. Any questions regarding drops, transfers, refunds, progress reports, or password and email changes are handled by contacting Lifelong Learning via lifelonglearning@wcpss.net or 919-694-0559.

How long do the online classes last?

Instructor led courses are for students who prefer a structured learning pace with instructor guidance. The classes run six weeks in length. Lessons are gated and released biweekly.
Self-paced tutorials are for students who prefer to learn at their own pace and are comfortable with self-guidance. Students gain access to all course material, quizzes and the final exam at the time of enrollment. The classes are available for access for three months.
Will I receive an email from the instructor of the online class?

You will receive an email from our national partner, ed2go, once you register for the class. Instructions for accessing the class are in that email. If you do not see the email, check your spam folder. If you still do not see the email, contact lifelonglearning@wcpss.net or 919-694-0559.
What is the difference between “Instructor-Led” courses and “Self-Paced Tutorial” courses?

Instructor-Led courses are designed for structured group learning. These courses feature an instructor-moderated discussion board so you can interact with your session cohort. Self-Paced Tutorial courses are designed for completely independent learning, without instructor moderation or group discussion.

I am the parent/guardian of a high school student who needs recovery credits. Can he/she obtain these through this program?

No. If you have a high school student who needs credits toward a diploma, you must contact North Carolina Virtual Public High School. Visit
www.ncvps.org or call 919-515-8550. If your student is 18+ or has been out of school for more than six months, contact Wake Tech about the ABE/GED program.
